Christ and my family (Rom 9:3)

“I could wish

That I myself

Were accursed

And cut off

From Christ

For the sake

Of my own people,

My kindred

According to the flesh.”

Paul said that he wished (ηὐχόμην) that he (ἐγὼ) himself were accursed (γὰρ ἀνάθεμα εἶναι αὐτὸς) and cut off from Christ (ἀπὸ τοῦ Χριστοῦ) for the sake of his own brothers (ὑπὲρ τῶν ἀδελφῶν μου), his kindred (τῶν συγγενῶν μου) according to the flesh (κατὰ σάρκα).  Paul said that he wished that he could be cursed and separated from Christ for the sake of his kindred related fleshy human brothers.  Paul was now turning to his Israelite brothers.  The cause of their conflict was Jesus Christ.  If he could be separated from Christ, then all would be well with him and his Jewish brothers.  Is Jesus Christ the source of conflict in your family?
