“As it is written.
‘There is no one
Who is righteous,
Not even one.’”
καθὼς γέγραπται ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν δίκαιος οὐδὲ εἷς,
Paul said that it was written (καθὼς γέγραπται) that there is no one who is righteous (ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν δίκαιος), not even one (οὐδὲ εἷς). Paul used a series of biblical texts that proved his point about the sinfulness of all humans. Perhaps this compilation of verses from the Psalms already existed. This verse was a reference to Psalm 14:3, where Yahweh God said that they have all gone astray. They are all alike perverse. There is no one who does good. No, not one. There was not even one person who was just. Psalm 53 was another short psalm, much like Psalm 14 so that Psalm 53: 1-4 is similar. God said that they were all corrupt. They commit abominable acts. There is no one who does good. They have all fallen away. They are all alike perverse. There is none who does good, no, not one. This, of course, was a very negative view of humanity and all the people who live on earth. Do you believe that there is no one who is righteous?
