True circumcision (Rom 2:28)

“A person

Is not an apparent Jew,

Who is one outwardly.

True circumcision

Is not something external

And physical.”

οὐ γὰρ ὁ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ Ἰουδαῖός ἐστιν, οὐδὲ ἡ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ ἐν σαρκὶ περιτομή·

Paul said that a person is not an apparent Jew (οὐ γὰρ ὁ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ Ἰουδαῖός ἐστιν), who is one outwardly.  True circumcision (περιτομή) is not something appearing in the flesh (οὐδὲ ἡ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ ἐν σαρκὶ), externally and physically.  Paul maintained that because one had the physical markings of a circumcised Jew with no foreskin on his penis, he did not have true circumcision.  This was only an outward mark and not the real circumcision of the heart.  Do you have circumcision of the heart?
