The law with knowledge and truth (Rom 2:20)

“You are a corrector

Of the foolish,

And a teacher

Of little children.

You have in the law

The embodiment

Of knowledge

And truth.”

παιδευτὴν ἀφρόνων, διδάσκαλον νηπίων, ἔχοντα τὴν μόρφωσιν τῆς γνώσεως καὶ τῆς ἀληθείας ἐν τῷ νόμῳ·

Paul continued with his comments to the Jews that they were a corrector (παιδευτὴν) of the foolish (ἀφρόνων), and a teacher (διδάσκαλον) of little children (νηπίων).  They have (ἔχοντα) in the law (ἐν τῷ νόμῳ) the embodiment or the form (τὴν μόρφωσιν) of knowledge (τῆς γνώσεως) and truth (καὶ τῆς ἀληθείας).  Only the Pauline letters used these words παιδευτὴν, that means a teacher, one who disciplines, an instructor, a trainer, or a chastiser, and the word, μόρφωσιν, that means a form, outline, or semblance.  The Jewish people had the role of correcting the foolish and teaching the very young children, because they had an outline of knowledge and truth in the Mosaic Law.  The Jewish people had a privileged position as the teacher of both the foolish grown-ups and the little children.  The Law of Moses had the guidelines for all knowledge and truth.  Are you a foolish grown up or lacking knowledge like a child?
