They all took some food (Acts 27:36)

“Then all of them

Were encouraged.

They took food

For themselves.”

εὔθυμοι δὲ γενόμενοι πάντες καὶ αὐτοὶ προσελάβοντο τροφῆς.

The author of Acts indicated that then all of them (δὲ γενόμενοι πάντες) were encouraged (εὔθυμοι).  They took food for themselves (καὶ αὐτοὶ προσελάβοντο τροφῆς).  Acts was the only Greek biblical writing that used this word εὔθυμοι, that means cheerful or having good courage.  All of the men onboard this ship were encouraged by these words of Paul.  They took food for themselves.  They did not seem to participate in Paul’s bread, but they did take some food for themselves.  However, there is no indication of where this food came from either.  How often do you eat a meal?
