You will open their eyes to the light (Acts 26:18)

“You will open their eyes,

So that they may turn away

From darkness

To light.

They may turn away

From the power of Satan

To God.

Thus,

They may receive

The forgiveness of sins

And a place

Among those

Who are sanctified

By faith in me.”

The author of Acts indicated Paul said that Jesus told Paul that he would open their eyes (ἀνοῖξαι ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν), so that they may turn away (τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι) from darkness (ἀπὸ σκότους) to light (εἰς φῶς).  They would turn away from the power of Satan (καὶ τῆς ἐξουσίας τοῦ Σατανᾶ) to God (ἐπὶ τὸν Θεόν).  Thus, they may receive (τοῦ λαβεῖν αὐτοὺς) the forgiveness of sins (ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν) and an inheritance place (καὶ κλῆρον) among those (ἐν τοῖς) who are sanctified (ἡγιασμένοις) by faith in Jesus (πίστει τῇ εἰς ἐμέ).  Jesus the Lord went on to say that Paul was going to give the sons of Israel and the gentiles the power to open their eyes from the darkness of Satan to the light of God.  This image of darkness to light was a sense of conversion.  Thus, they might have forgiveness of sins and be sanctified in and by faith in Jesus.  Forgiveness of sins came from this belief in Jesus Christ.  There would be nothing more here about Ananias and the situation in Damascus, although there was more, both in chapter 9 and in chapter 22.  Do you help people to leave their darkness?
