I did many things against the name of Jesus (Acts 26:9)

“Indeed,

I myself was convinced

That I ought to do

Many things

Against the name

Of Jesus of Nazareth.”

ἐγὼ μὲν οὖν ἔδοξα ἐμαυτῷ πρὸς τὸ ὄνομα Ἰησοῦ τοῦ Ναζωραίου δεῖν πολλὰ ἐναντία πρᾶξαι·

The author of Acts indicated that Paul said that he was convinced (ἐγὼ μὲν οὖν ἔδοξα ἐμαυτῷ) that he ought (δεῖν) to do (πρᾶξαι) many things (πολλὰ) against (ἐναντία) the name (πρὸς τὸ ὄνομα) of Jesus of Nazareth (Ἰησοῦ τοῦ Ναζωραίου).  Paul then switched gears.  He began to tell the king and those present with him how his relationship with the followers of Jesus developed.  He was very much opposed to many of the things that the followers of Jesus were doing.  Thus persuaded, he did many things that opposed the name of Jesus.  Have you ever changed your mind about somebody?
