“Now why do you delay?
Have your sins
Call on his name!”’
καὶ νῦν τί μέλλεις; ἀναστὰς βάπτισαι καὶ ἀπόλουσαι τὰς ἁμαρτίας σου, ἐπικαλεσάμενος τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ.
The author of Acts indicated that Paul said that Ananias asked him “Why do you delay (καὶ νῦν τί μέλλεις)?” He told him to get up (ἀναστὰς) and be baptized (βάπτισαι). He was to have his sins washed away (καὶ ἀπόλουσαι τὰς ἁμαρτίας σου). He was to call on the name of Jesus (ἐπικαλεσάμενος τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ)! There was something similar in chapter 9:18. “His sight was restored (ἀνέβλεψέν τε). Then he got up (καὶ ἀναστὰς) and he was baptized (ἐβαπτίσθη).” In Acts 26, Paul never mentioned anything about his blindness or being baptized. Paul just received a mission from God. Here Ananias had cured Saul of his blindness, both physical and spiritual blindness. Now he was baptized also. Do you still have some spiritual blindness?
