The name of the Lord Jesus
The author of Acts indicated that this became known (τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο γνωστὸν) to all (πᾶσιν) the residents of Ephesus (τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν τὴν Ἔφεσον), both Jews (Ἰουδαίοις τε) and Greeks (καὶ Ἕλλησιν). Fear (φόβος) fell (καὶ ἐπέπεσεν) on all of them (ἐπὶ πάντας αὐτούς). They praised or magnified (καὶ ἐμεγαλύνετο) the name (τὸ ὄνομα) of the Lord Jesus (τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ). When all the Jews and Greeks in Ephesus heard about the incident of the seven Sceva brother’s failure to exorcise a man, they were afraid. Thus, they further praised and magnified the name of the Lord Jesus. The failure of these Jewish exorcists only made the work of Paul in the name of Jesus seem more powerful. How do you use the name of Jesus in your life?
