Some sided with the Jews (καὶ οἱ μὲν ἦσαν σὺν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις), while others sided with the apostles (οἱ δὲ σὺν τοῖς ἀποστόλοις). A lot of the people in this city of Iconium were split. Some sided with the Jews, while others sided with the apostles. Notice that the author of Acts called them, Paul and Barnabas, apostles. Up to this point, that term had been reserved for the particular Twelve apostles. Remember the big deal about getting a replacement for the apostle Judas, when Matthias was chosen in chapter 1:12-26.
