“But when they believed Philip,
Who was proclaiming
The good news
About the kingdom of God
And the name of Jesus Christ,
They were baptized,
The author of Acts indicated that when the people of Samaria believed (ὅτε δὲ ἐπίστευσαν) Philip (τῷ Φιλίππῳ), who was proclaiming the good news of the gospel (εὐαγγελιζομένῳ) about the kingdom of God (περὶ τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ Θεοῦ) and the name of Jesus Christ (καὶ τοῦ ὀνόματος Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ), they were baptized (ἐβαπτίζοντο), both men (ἄνδρες τε) and women (καὶ γυναῖκες). These people from Samaria believed Philip when he was evangelizing about the good news of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God. Thus, both men and women, and not just men, were baptized. This was a continuation of the good news that was earlier in this chapter when people were listening to Philip. Now they acted on his words and were baptized as followers of Jesus Christ. Do you remember your baptism?
