Simon was an amazing magician (Acts 8:11)

“They listened eagerly

To him,

Because for a long time

He had amazed them

With his magic.”

προσεῖχον δὲ αὐτῷ διὰ τὸ ἱκανῷ χρόνῳ ταῖς μαγίαις ἐξεστακέναι αὐτούς.

The author of Acts indicated that they listened eagerly to Simon (προσεῖχον δὲ αὐτῷ), because for a long time (διὰ τὸ ἱκανῷ χρόνῳ) he had amazed them (ἐξεστακέναι αὐτούς) with his magic (ταῖς μαγίαις).  The author of Acts continued to use this term προσεῖχον, that means listen eagerly or pay attention to, as in the last few verses.  Acts was also the only Greek biblical writing that used this word μαγίαις, that means magic.  Simon had amazed the people of Samaria for a long time with his amazing magic tricks.  Even today, we always seem fascinated by amazing magicians.  This seems like a lot of information about this Simon.  Have you ever been to a magic show?
