Moses was born (Acts 7:20)

“At this time,

Moses was born.

He was beautiful

To God.

For three months

He was brought up

In his father’s house.”

The author of Acts indicated that Stephen said that at that time (Ἐν ᾧ καιρῷ), Moses was born (ἐγεννήθη Μωϋσῆς).  He was beautiful (καὶ ἦν ἀστεῖος) to God (τῷ Θεῷ).  For three months (μῆνας τρεῖς) he was brought up or nursed (ὃς ἀνετράφη) in his father’s house (ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός).  Acts was the only Greek biblical writing that used this word ἀνετράφη, that means to nurse, to nourish, to rear, to bring up, or to educate.  This was based on Exodus, chapter 2:1-2.  Jewish tradition said that Moses was beautiful, but this was not explicit in Exodus.  Stephen did not mention his Levite parents.  Are all little children beautiful?
