Leave these men alone! (Acts 5:38)

“Thus,

I tell you!

Keep away

From these men!

Let them alone!

If this plan

Or this undertaking

Is of human origin

It will fail.”

The author of Acts indicated that Gamaliel continued that he was telling them (καὶ τὰ νῦν λέγω ὑμῖν) to keep away from these men (ἀπόστητε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τούτων).  Let them alone (καὶ ἄφετε αὐτούς)!  If this plan (ἡ βουλὴ αὕτη) or this work or undertaking (ἢ τὸ ἔργον τοῦτο) is of human origin or from men (ὅτι ἐὰν ᾖ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων), it will fail or be destroyed (καταλυθήσεται).  Gamaliel said that they should not get excited about these Jesus followers.  Just leave them alone, because if it is of human origin, it will fail anyway, like most of the other uprisings or movements.  Do most movements die out?
