You acted in ignorance (Acts 3:17)

“Now brothers!

I know

That you acted

Out of ignorance,

As did also your leaders.”

καὶ νῦν, ἀδελφοί, οἶδα ὅτι κατὰ ἄγνοιαν ἐπράξατε, ὥσπερ καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες ὑμῶν

The author of Acts indicated that Peter called them brothers (καὶ νῦν, ἀδελφοί).  He said that he knew (οἶδα) that they had acted (ἐπράξατε) out of ignorance (κατὰ ἄγνοιαν), just like their leaders (ὥσπερ καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες ὑμῶν).  Peter called these Jewish people his brothers.  He indicated that they and their leaders were not culpable for their actions against Jesus, since they acted in a state of ignorance.  They did not understand the seriousness and consequences of their actions.  Do you sometimes act out of ignorance?
