Look at us! (Acts 3:4)

“Peter looked intently

At the lame beggar,

As did John.

He said.

‘Look at us!’”

ἀτενίσας δὲ Πέτρος εἰς αὐτὸν σὺν τῷ Ἰωάνῃ εἶπεν Βλέψον εἰς ἡμᾶς.

The author of Acts indicated that both Peter (δὲ Πέτρος) and John (σὺν τῷ Ἰωάνῃ) looked intently (ἀτενίσας) at this lame beggar (εἰς αὐτὸν).  Peter told (εἶπεν) him to look at them (Βλέψον εἰς ἡμᾶς).  Peter and John looked at this lame beggar with an intense stare as if something was going to happen.  In fact, Peter told this beggar to look at them.  It sounds a little arrogant at first.  Have you ever stared at a handicapped beggar?
