Expectations (Acts 3:5)

“The lame man

Fixed his attention

On them,

To receive something

From them.”

ὁ δὲ ἐπεῖχεν αὐτοῖς προσδοκῶν τι παρ’ αὐτῶν λαβεῖν.

The author of Acts indicated that the lame man fixed his attention on them (ὁ δὲ ἐπεῖχεν αὐτοῖς), Peter and John.  He expected (προσδοκῶν) to receive (λαβεῖν) something (τι) from them (παρ’ αὐτῶν).  When Peter and John had spoken to him, the lame beggar was expecting to get some money from them, so that he paid close attention to them.  Do you ignore beggars?
