The big catch (Jn 21:6-21:6)

“Jesus said to them.

‘Cast the net

To the right side

Of the boat!

You will find

Some fish.’

They cast their net.

Now they were not able

To haul it in,

Because there were

So many fish.”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus said to them (ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς) to cast (Βάλετε) their net (τὸ δίκτυον) to the right side (εἰς τὰ δεξιὰ) of the boat (μέρη τοῦ πλοίου).  He said that they would find (καὶ εὑρήσετε) some fish.  Thus, they cast their net (ἔβαλον οὖν).  Then they were not able to haul or pull in (καὶ οὐκέτι αὐτὸ ἑλκύσαι ἴσχυον) all the fish, because there were so many fish (πὸ τοῦ πλήθους τῶν ἰχθύων).  John was the only canonical gospel to use this term ἑλκύσαι that means to drag, draw, pull, or persuade.  Jesus told them to cast their net to the right side of the boat.  Then these disciples did just that, so that the net was overflowing with fish, making it difficult to haul in.  Here John used the more common Greek term for fish ἰχθύων.  What is the best time that you have had fishing?
