My Lord and my God (Jn 20:28-20:28)

“Thomas answered him.

‘My Lord!

My God!’”

ἀπεκρίθη Θωμᾶς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ὁ Κύριός μου καὶ ὁ Θεός μου.

John uniquely indicated that Thomas responded (ἀπεκρίθη Θωμᾶς).  He simply called Jesus (καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ), “My Lord and My God!”  Case closed, Thomas was convinced that Jesus was his Lord and God.  This expressive act of faith has continued down throughout Christianity.  He was no longer doubting Thomas, but believing Thomas.  Have you ever been convinced of something that you doubted?
