The Holy Spirit will bear witness (Jn 15:26-15:26)

“The Paraclete,

Whom I will send

To you,

From the Father.

The Spirit of truth,

Who comes

From the Father,

Will bear witness

Or testify

On my behalf.”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus said that the Paraclete or the advocate (ὁ Παράκλητος) would come (Ὅταν ἔλθῃ) to bear witness or testify (ἐκεῖνος μαρτυρήσει) about Jesus (περὶ ἐμοῦ).  Jesus would send them this Paraclete (ὃν ἐγὼ πέμψω ὑμῖν), who comes from the Father (παρὰ τοῦ Πατρός).  This Spirit of truth (τὸ Πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας) proceeds or goes forth (ἐκπορεύεται) from the Father (ὃ παρὰ τοῦ Πατρὸς).  This Helper, Advocate, Paraclete, Spirt of Truth, the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.  Thus, the annunciation of the Trinity is precisely here in this passage, with the wording later completed and formalized in the Nicene Creed in 325 CE.  Jesus was more explicit here in John about the three persons in one God, that became the basis or foundation for all later developed trinitarian theology.  Do you believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?
