My friends (Jn 15:14-15:14)

“You are my friends,

If you do

What I command you.”

ὑμεῖς φίλοι μού ἐστε, ἐὰν ποιῆτε ὃ ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαι ὑμῖν.

John uniquely indicated that Jesus said that they would be his friends (ὑμεῖς φίλοι μού ἐστε), if they did (ἐὰν ποιῆτε) what he had commanded them to do (ὃ ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαι ὑμῖν).  To be a friend of God and Jesus, you had to follow his commandments.  There was no other way.  Do you follow the commands of a friend?
