The powerless ruler (Jn 14:30-14:30)

“I will no longer talk much

With you.

The ruler of this world

Is coming.

He has no power

Over me.”

οὐκέτι πολλὰ λαλήσω μεθ’ ὑμῶν, ἔρχεται γὰρ ὁ τοῦ κόσμου ἄρχων· καὶ ἐν ἐμοὶ οὐκ ἔχει οὐδέν,

John uniquely indicated that Jesus said that he would not talk (λαλήσω) to them (μεθ’ ὑμῶν) much longer (οὐκέτι πολλὰ).  The ruler of this world (γὰρ ὁ τοῦ κόσμου ἄρχων) was coming (ἔρχεται), but he had nothing or no power (οὐκ ἔχει οὐδέν) over him (καὶ ἐν ἐμοὶ).  Jesus was not going to be talking to them much longer.  The ruler of the world was coming, but he did not have power over him.  Most people believe that this ruler of the world was Satan, who obviously had no power over Jesus.  What is the value of worldly power?
