You do not love me (Jn 14:24-14:24)

“Whoever does not love me

Does not keep

My words.

The word

That you hear

Is not mine.

But it is

From the Father

Who sent me.”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus said that whoever did not love him (ὁ μὴ ἀγαπῶν με), did not keep his words (τοὺς λόγους μου οὐ τηρεῖ).  However, the words (καὶ ὁ λόγος) that they heard (ὃν ἀκούετε) were not those of Jesus (οὐκ ἔστιν ἐμὸς), but from the Father (Πατρός) who sent him (ἀλλὰ τοῦ πέμψαντός).  The people who do not love Jesus, do not keep his word or commandments.  There was a clear connection between loving Jesus and keeping his commandments or words.  These words of Jesus are not from Jesus alone, but from God, the Father, who had sent him.  Do you keep the word of those you love?
