If you love me (Jn 14:23-14:23)

“Jesus answered Judas.

‘Those who love me,

Will keep

My word.

My Father

Will love them.

We will come

To them.

We will make our home

With them.’”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus (Ἰησοῦς) answered (ἀπεκρίθη) this Judas, that was not Iscariot.  He said to him (καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ) that if anyone loved Jesus (Ἐάν τις ἀγαπᾷ), they would keep his word (με τὸν λόγον μου τηρήσει).  Then his Father (καὶ ὁ Πατήρ μου) would love them also (ἀγαπήσει αὐτόν).  Both Jesus and the Father would come (ἐλευσόμεθα) to them (καὶ πρὸς αὐτὸν) to make (ποιησόμεθα) their home (καὶ μονὴν) with them (παρ’ αὐτῷ).  Only John, among all the Greek biblical writers, used this word μονὴν that means an abiding, an abode, lodging, dwelling-place, room, or mansion.  The Father of Jesus would come to those who loved, followed, and kept the commandments or word of Jesus.  Both Jesus and his Father would live with them.  The presence of God requires a commitment to loving and following Jesus in action.  Thus, God dwells in the saints or the holy ones as the graceful living presence of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  Does God live in you?
