The Spirit of truth (Jn 14:17-14:17)

“The world

Cannot receive

This Spirit of truth,

Because it neither sees him

Nor knows him.

You know him,

Because he dwells

Within you.

He will be

In you.”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus said that the world (ὃ ὁ κόσμος) cannot or was not able to receive (οὐ δύναται λαβεῖν) this Spirit of truth (τὸ Πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας,), the Paraclete, because it neither sees him (ὅτι οὐ θεωρεῖ αὐτὸ) nor knows him (οὐδὲ γινώσκει).  However, they knew him (ὑμεῖς γινώσκετε αὐτό) because he dwelt within them (ὅτι παρ’ ὑμῖν μένει).  Thus, he will be in them (καὶ ἐν ὑμῖν ἔσται).  The world or those non-followers of Jesus could not receive this Paraclete, the Spirit of truth.  These worldly people could neither see nor know the Spirit of truth.  The followers of Jesus, on the other hand would know this Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, because he would live within them.  They would be the temples of the Holy Spirit, with the Paraclete living in them.  Do you have the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit with you?
