Believe me! (Jn 14:11-14:11)

“Believe me!

I am in the Father!

The Father is

In me!

But if you do not

Believe me,

Believe

Because of the works

Themselves.”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus once again reiterated that they should believe him (πιστεύετέ μοι).  He was in the Father (ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ Πατρὶ) and the Father in him (ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ Πατρὶ).  He repeated what he had just said in the preceding verse.  At least, if they did not believe in Jesus’ words (εἰ δὲ μή), they should believe (πιστεύετε) because of his works (διὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτὰ).  Jesus continued to pound this point home.  He and the Father were in each other because they were one God.  Even if the people did not believe in Jesus’ words, they should at least believe in his works.  Do you believe that Jesus and the Father are one?
