Jesus announces his glorification (Jn 12:23-12:23)

“Jesus answered them.

‘The hour has come

For the Son of Man

To be glorified.’”

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἀποκρίνεται αὐτοῖς λέγων Ἐλήλυθεν ἡ ὥρα ἵνα δοξασθῇ ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.

Then John uniquely indicated that Jesus (ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς) answered Philip and Andrew (ἀποκρίνεται αὐτοῖς) with a non-response to their question.  Instead Jesus said (λέγων) that the hour (ἡ ὥρα) had come (Ἐλήλυθεν) for the Son of Man (ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου) to be glorified (ἵνα δοξασθῇ).  Perhaps this is the answer that the gospel will be preached to the Greeks.  This hour had been anticipated for a long time in this gospel of John, as quite often Jesus had said his hour had not yet come.  Thus, with this hour of the Son of Man being glorified, there would be salvation for the Jews and the Greeks.  Do you expect to see the glorified Son of Man?
