Caiaphas (Jn 11:49-11:49)

“But one of them,

Caiaphas,

Who was the high priest

That same year,

Said to them.

‘You know nothing at all!’”

John uniquely indicated that one of them (εἷς δέ τις ἐξ αὐτῶν), Caiaphas (Καϊάφας), the high priest (ἀρχιερεὺς ὢν) for that same year (τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου), said to them (εἶπεν αὐτοῖς) that they knew nothing at all (Ὑμεῖς οὐκ οἴδατε οὐδέν).  Caiaphas was the high priest from 18-36 CE, not just one year.  He was not merely one among many, but the actual leader of Sanhedrin.  This high priest told them they did not know what they were talking about.  They were dummies.  Do you sometimes think that people have no idea what they are talking about?
