Disciples of Moses (Jn 9:28-9:28)

“Then they reviled

This former blind man.

They said.

‘You are his disciple!

But we are disciples

Of Moses!’”

καὶ ἐλοιδόρησαν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπαν Σὺ μαθητὴς εἶ ἐκείνου, ἡμεῖς δὲ τοῦ Μωϋσέως ἐσμὲν μαθητα

John uniquely indicated that then this Jewish group or Pharisees reviled this cured blind man (καὶ ἐλοιδόρησαν αὐτὸν).  They said (καὶ εἶπαν) that he was a disciple of Jesus (Σὺ μαθητὴς εἶ ἐκείνου), but that they were the disciples of Moses (ἡμεῖς δὲ τοῦ Μωϋσέως ἐσμὲν μαθητα).  These questioners were getting upset.  They began to revile or abuse this former blind man.  They accused him of being one of Jesus ’disciples.  However, they maintained that they were followers of Moses.  Do you follow Jesus or Moses?
