This man is a sinner (Jn 9:24-9:24)

“Thus,

For the second time,

They called the man

Who had been blind.

They said to him.

‘Give glory

To God!

We know

That this man

Is a sinner.’”

John uniquely indicated that for the second time (ἐκ δευτέρου), this Jewish group or the Pharisees called (Ἐφώνησαν οὖν) this man (τὸν ἄνθρωπον) who had been blind (ὃς ἦν τυφλὸς).  They said to him (καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ) to give glory (Δὸς δόξαν) to God (τῷ Θεῷ)!  We know (ἡμεῖς οἴδαμεν) that this man (ὅτι οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος) is a sinner (ἁμαρτωλός ἐστιν).  Once again, they got this blind man.  They asked him to give glory to God or praise God.  This was a kind of oath that he should speak the truth.  It also was an indication that they wanted him to credit God with this healing and not Jesus.  They explained that this man Jesus was a sinner.  Thus, the blind man was put into a difficult position.  Have you ever been in a difficult situation?
