I come from God (Jn 8:42-8:42)

“Jesus said to them.

‘If God were

Your Father,

You would love me.

I came

From God.

Now I am here.

I did not come

On my own accord,

But he sent me.’”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus (ὁ Ἰησοῦς) said to them (εἶπεν αὐτοῖς) that if God (Εἰ ὁ Θεὸς) was their Father (Πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἦν), they would love him (ἠγαπᾶτε ἂν ἐμέ), Jesus.  Jesus (ἐγὼ γὰρ), using the first-person singular said that he came (ἐξῆλθον) from God (ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ), but now he was here (καὶ ἥκω).  He had not come on his own accord (οὐδὲ γὰρ ἀπ’ ἐμαυτοῦ ἐλήλυθα), but he (ἀλλ’ ἐκεῖνός), the Father, sent him (με ἀπέστειλεν).  If they really recognized God the Father, they would love Jesus because he came from God to be here with them.  He did not come on his own accord, but the Father sent him, as he had said all along.  He was not just another religious figure.  He shared in the Godhead of the Father.  Do you believe that Jesus was sent by God, the Father?
