Do not complain! (Jn 6:43-6:43)

“Jesus answered them.

‘Do not complain

Among yourselves!’”

ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Μὴ γογγύζετε μετ’ ἀλλήλων.

John uniquely indicated that Jesus answered (ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς) these Jewish representatives from the crowd.  He told them (καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς) not to complain or grumble among themselves (Μὴ γογγύζετε μετ’ ἀλλήλων).  Jesus had offended many of these listeners, since they did not think of him as divine, but merely a neighbor from Nazareth.  Jesus was going to explain his position.  Do you underestimate your neighbors?
