Lose nothing (Jn 6:39-6:39)

“This is the will

Of him

Who sent me.

I should lose nothing

Of all

That he has given me,

But raise it up

On the last day.”

John indicated that Jesus continued to explain the will of the Father in this bread of life discourse, even though it was not in the other canonical synoptic gospels.  Jesus said that this was the will (τοῦτο δέ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα) of him who sent him (τοῦ πέμψαντός με), his Father.  He was not to lose anything (μὴ ἀπολέσω ἐξ αὐτοῦ) of all that he had been given (ἵνα πᾶν ὃ δέδωκέν μοι).  However, he was to raise it all up (ἀλλὰ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸ) on the last day (ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ), the eschaton.  Now Jesus explained what his Father wanted done.  Jesus was not to lose anything, while raising everything up on the last day.  What do you expect on the last judgment day?
