The bread from heaven (Jn 6:32-6:32)

Then said to them.

Very truly!

I say to you!

It was not Moses

Who gave you

The bread

From heaven.

But it is my Father

Who gives you

The true bread

From heaven.’”

John uniquely indicated that Jesus turned the tables on these Jewish representatives, even though this discourse of Jesus was not in the other canonical synoptic gospels.  Jesus (ὁ Ἰησοῦς) told them (εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς) with a solemn pronouncement (Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν) that it was not Moses (οὐ Μωϋσῆς) who gave them (δέδωκεν ὑμῖν) and their ancestors the bread (τὸν ἄρτον) from heaven (ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ).  But it was the Father (ἀλλ’ ὁ Πατήρ) of Jesus who gave and gives (δίδωσιν ὑμῖν) the true bread (τὸν ἀληθινόν τὸν ἄρτον) from heaven (ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ).  Jesus almost makes an equivalence between Yahweh and the Father.  Clearly the Exodus biblical text spoke about Yahweh, not the Father.  Jesus then spoke about his Father rather than Yahweh.  This manna was not true heavenly bread since it was perishable.  The heavenly eucharistic bread from the Father of Jesus would lead to eternity.  Do you want eternal bread?
