I have no husband (Jn 4:17-4:17)

“The woman

Answered Jesus.

‘I have no husband.’

Jesus said to her.

‘You are right

In saying.

‘I have no husband.’”

John uniquely indicated that this unnamed Samaritan woman answered (ἀπεκρίθη ἡ γυνὴ) Jesus.  She said (καὶ εἶπεν) that she did not have a husband (Οὐκ ἔχω ἄνδρα.).  Jesus reminded her (λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς) that she had spoken correctly in saying (Καλῶς εἶπες) that she did not have a husband (ὅτι Ἄνδρα οὐκ ἔχω).  Once again, this conversation seemed straight forward and uncomplicated.  She did not have a husband.  Jesus had accepted her answer.  Is it important that women have a husband?
