God is true (Jn 3:33-3:33)

“Whoever has accepted

His testimony

Has certified this.

God is true.”

ὁ λαβὼν αὐτοῦ τὴν μαρτυρίαν ἐσφράγισεν ὅτι ὁ Θεὸς ἀληθής ἐστιν.

John uniquely continued with this poetic theological presentation of John the Baptist to his disciples.  He had an upside to this situation.  John the Baptist said that the one who accepted or received (ὁ λαβὼν) his testimony or witness (αὐτοῦ τὴν μαρτυρίαν), the testimony of the one from above, Jesus, he would be sealed or certify (ἐσφράγισεν) that God is true (ὅτι ὁ Θεὸς ἀληθής ἐστιν).  There would be some sort of an official act of sealing or certifying that God was true.  When people did not accept the testimony from above, they were rejecting the true faithful trustworthy God himself.  Have you accepted the true testimony of God?
