The Word was in the world (Jn 1:10-1:10)

“The Word

Was in the world.

The cosmic world

Came into being

Through him.

Yet the world

Did not know him.”

ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ἦν, καὶ ὁ κόσμος δι’ αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο, καὶ ὁ κόσμος αὐτὸν οὐκ ἔγνω.

John uniquely has a play on the word “cosmos” with multiple meanings.  It could mean the universal world, or cosmos, or the humans living in this world, or the evil world of demonic power.  The Word was in this cosmic world (ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ἦν), yet the world of people (καὶ ὁ κόσμος) did not know him (αὐτὸν οὐκ ἔγνω), even though everything in this cosmic universe came to exist through him (καὶ ὁ κόσμος δι’ αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο).  The Word, Jesus, created the world, but the world or the people of world did not notice it, they did not know or recognize it.  The world did not recognize its own creator.  Do you realize that Jesus, the Word, is also the creator of the world?
