The women were right (Lk 24:24-24:24)

“Some of those

Who were with us

Went to the tomb.

They found it

Just as the women

Had said.

But they did not see Jesus.”

Luke uniquely indicated that these two disciples said that some of the disciples who were with them went (καὶ ἀπῆλθόν τινες τῶν σὺν ἡμῖν) to the tomb (ἐπὶ τὸ μνημεῖον).  They found the tomb (καὶ εὗρον οὕτως), just like the women had said (καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες εἶπον).  However. they did not see Jesus (αὐτὸν δὲ οὐκ εἶδον).  Thus, these two disciples were up to date on everything about Jesus, the angels, and the empty tomb.  Luke is the only canonical gospel writer who has this story about the two disciples on their way to Emmaus in a conversation with the unrecognizable Jesus.  How often do you go to a cemetery?
