The right time (Lk 22:6-22:6)

“Thus, Judas consented.

He began

To look

For an opportunity

To betray Jesus

To them,

When no crowd

Was present.”

καὶ ἐξωμολόγησεν, καὶ ἐζήτει εὐκαιρίαν τοῦ παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν ἄτερ ὄχλου αὐτοῖς.

Luke said that Judas agreed to this or consented to do it (καὶ ἐξωμολόγησεν).  He began to look for an opportunity (καὶ ἐζήτει εὐκαιρίαν) to betray or hand over Jesus to them (τοῦ παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν), when no crowd would be present (ἄτερ ὄχλου αὐτοῖς).  This is similar to Matthew, chapter 26:16, and Mark, chapter 14:11.  However, Luke was the only one to mention no crowd.  Mark said that Judas then began to look for an opportunity to betray or hand over Jesus in a convenient manner (καὶ ἐζήτει πῶς αὐτὸν εὐκαίρως παραδοῖ).  Matthew said that from that moment on (καὶ ἀπὸ τότε), Judas began to look for an opportunity to betray Jesus (ἐζήτει εὐκαιρίαν ἵνα αὐτὸν παραδῷ).  It was just a matter of time and opportunity for Judas to carry out his plan.  Have you ever planned something for a long time?
