How many loaves did they have? (Mk 8:5-8:5)

“Jesus asked them.

‘How many loaves

Do you have?’

They said.

‘Seven!’”

καὶ ἠρώτα αὐτούς Πόσους ἔχετε ἄρτους; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν Ἑπτά.

Matthew, chapter 15:34, has a similar statement about these 7 loaves of bread.  Jesus asked his disciples (καὶ ἠρώτα αὐτούς Πόσους) how many loaves of bread that they had (Πόσους ἔχετε ἄρτους).  They responded that they had 7 loaves (οἱ δὲ εἶπαν Ἑπτά).  Mark did not mention the fish here that Matthew mentioned.  The earlier multiplication of bread had 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.
