Satan afflicts Job with skin sores (Job 2:7-2:8)

“Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh. He afflicted loathsome sores on Job from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. Job took a potsherd with which to scrape himself. He sat among the ashes.”

Satan left Yahweh and went to work as he gave Job sores from his feet to the top of his head. It did not appear to be leprosy, but some kind of a skin ailment or disease that has his skin crack with scabs. However, Job was in constant pain as he sat in the ashes. He then used a piece of broken pottery, a potsherd, to scrape the dead skin from his sores. Now this affliction was not about things around him, or his children, but his own life with all these scratchy painful sores all over his body.
